BARITONE TIM KROL RESCUES FORGOTTEN COMPOSER FROM OBLIVION!

Rarely heard works by "one of the finest masters of German art song" will be heard when
former Chanticleer singer [1991-2000] Tim Krol visits his “other hometown" of San
Francisco, after completing his 14th season at the Carmel Bach Festival.

Robert Franz was good friends with Schumann, Mendelssohn, Wagner and Liszt. Why do their works continue to grace our stages, while those of Robert Franz have fallen silent? Tim will explore the possible reasons in an informal and entertaining program, integrating dramatic readings in modern English by a professional actor; and the superb musicality of pianist Dwight Okamura.

Also on the program, Diana Zaslove will join Tim in singing a cycle of songs composed by George Kahn, and set to the wonderful words of A.A. Milne, of "Winnie-the-Pooh" fame. This short cycle of duets and solos explores the wonderful images as seen through the eyes of young people, ranging from sitting "halfway down the stairs," or getting "sand between the toes" on a blustery day at the beach. George's skillful writing captures the youthful essence of Milne's words in both the piano and the voices.

Tim will release a super-HD recording of 30+ Franz songs in August 2015, which will include a full-size book teeming with fascinating letters, magazine articles and more… all of which contain possible answers to the pervading question: “With songs this beautiful, why have so few people today ever heard of Robert Franz?"
